Kamran Ansari

Kamran Ansari is a Senior Associate and part of the core investment team at Greycroft, based in the New York Office. His investment focus includes mobile applications & technologies, social media & video, and gaming.

Before Greycroft, Kamran was Head of Corporate & Business Development at MyYearbook/MeetMe, the largest social networking platform for teens and the leader in social discovery, with over 70 million users across mobile and desktop.  At MyYearbook, he focused on mobile apps and mobile advertising, currency and commerce solutions, and gaming.  Kamran worked on the sale of MyYearbook to QuePasa.com for $100 million in 2011; the business is now traded on NYSE AMEX as ‘MEET.’

Before MyYearbook, Kamran was an investor at Oak Hill Capital and at Lehman Brothers Venture Partners, where he was also on the founding team of its successor fund, Tenaya Capital.  At Tenaya, Kamran’s investments included Palo Alto Networks (NYSE: ‘PANW’), Funny Or Die, Zuora, jaxtr (acquired by Sabse Technologies), Wintegra (acquired by PMC-Sierra), and AdBrite, and he also worked with Tenaya’s investment in Kayak (NASD: ‘KYAK’), MarkLogic, and Composite Software.   Kamran was also a private direct investor in Facebook, Inc and spent time as a Strategic Advisor to Newsweek.com / Washington Post Digital.  Kamran began his career at McKinsey & Company, and then was Director of Business Development at online advertising network, WhenU.

Kamran holds a BA in Ethics, Politics, & Economics from Yale, Cum Laude with Distinction, an MBA from Stanford Business School, and a JD from Stanford Law School.  Kamran has been a regular speaker and investor mentor at the New York Venture Summit, General Assembly, Entrepreneurs Roundtable NYC, & AppNation Conferences, among others.  He’s a member of the New York State Bar and also an Admissions Interviewer for Stanford’s Business School program.
